📝 Women's Preview: Moneyfields (A)

9 February 2024

Exeter City Women are back on the road this weekend as they head to Moneyfields, looking to maintain their position at the top of the National League Division One.

Moneys have had another strong season, currently sitting fourth with three games in hand on third. Karl Watson’s side have been in destructive form at home this year, winning ten of their twelve games in all competitions, hitting fifty-nine goals in the process. The two sides delivered a classic at St James Park in late September, City racing into a two-goal lead before Moneys hit back to level the game, strikes from Jenna Markham, Sarah Stacey and Steph Beck eventually edging the game City’s way.

The Portsmouth based side have a talented front line. Kau’Inohea Taylor and Charley Wilson-Wilton have scored thirty-three times between them this season, with Gemma Simmonds, Chelsie Hay and Kimberley Fuller all contributing to the Money’s considerable firepower. Rozalia Sitarz’s pace will test the Grecians backline, whilst the new addition of experienced Goalkeeper Rosie Kite is more good recruitment for Watson’s side.

City will be looking to get back to winning ways, last weekend’s point at AFC Bournemouth was a good one, although the general feeling was of disappointment at a below par performance. With the race to the finish line between City and the Cherries now on, and with both teams having to visit a highly talented Moneyfields side, the Hampshire side will, as they did in the final game of last season, play a big part in where the title ends up come May.
